Partial Loss Abstract for Ship Highlander, 1880-1885.

This collection includes the Partial Loss Abstract for the Ship Highlander, which was damaged during a typhoon on a voyage between Hong Kong and San Francisco, California. Abstract includes a description of the incident and a surveyor's report of the damage. Three additional documents are included: a Bill of Lading from Hong Kong; the accounting of ship repairs by Albert Dibblee; and a newspaper clipping dated February 20, 1885 detailing a second mishap for the same ship.
